The basis of the educational work at WUMA Reinach is the relationship between the caregiver (social pedagogue) and the young person, the provision of a safe place and the resource-oriented and empathetic perception of the residents as individuals and experts in their own lives.
The focus of day-to-day work with the young people is on teaching everyday skills and language. WUMA-Reinach sees itself as a training camp for a successful integration process in Switzerland, which prepares the residents for leaving the protected environment of the Erlenhof to lead a self-determined life.
All young people are firmly integrated into an everyday structure (school or work). The residents look after themselves. This includes managing their own food budget, shopping and preparing meals. When it comes to organizing leisure activities, a quick connection to local sports clubs or other institutions is desirable. The placement of so-called mentors is another optional component of the integration process.
We accompany the young people in their everyday lives with respect, empathy and in the knowledge of their often stressful experiences as refugees. Absolutely transparent communication, empathy and consistency are the underlying methods and evidence of an attitude that focuses on the best interests of the child.
