Therapy department

The internal therapy department, in liaison with the youth forensics department, the Clinic for Forensics (UPKF-J) of the University Psychiatric Clinics Basel (UPK), provides basic psychiatric and psychological care. It is an integral part of the interdisciplinary case management at the Erlenhof | Stiftung. The therapy department is integrated into the entire care process.

The therapy department at the Erlenhof | Stiftung works on a disorder- and offence-specific basis, paying particular attention to aspects of developmental psychology. The goals of treatment focus on stabilization and rehabilitation with a reduction in psychopathological symptoms and an improvement in social and everyday skills. The focus of the treatment is determined by the therapy department according to the indication and in consultation with the interdisciplinary team (housing, school, education). If indicated, work with the family of origin and the environment is included in the therapeutic-pedagogical work. Respect for the adolescents and young adults is a top priority in our daily work. We support and promote the patients’ personal responsibility, but also their responsibility towards others, taking into account the individual strengths and weaknesses of each individual. The inpatient setting of the Erlenhof | Stiftung serves as a learning and training ground. We strive to build a sustainable therapeutic relationship with the patients.

The staff in the therapy department treat the entire range of diagnoses of mental disorders, depending on the indication. This does not include patients with severe intellectual disability and/or with a severe dependency disorder or psychosis in the foreground.
