Preparation for initial vocational training for the visually impaired

This service enables targeted preparation for planned initial vocational training. In addition to completing a training program for the efficient use of aids and compensatory work techniques, there is a targeted development of specialist knowledge in areas relevant to training. Specific IT or language diplomas can be completed if the appropriate requirements are met. Practical training assignments in the workplace allow students to review their career choices and apply what they have learned in practice. Basic vocational qualifications are promoted, and, if necessary, clients are supported in the preparation of application documents. Clients are supported by a specialized career coach during the training course and advised on all career-related issues.

The training courses start quarterly and last a minimum of three months (option to extend).

The training can be completed full-time (Monday–Friday) or part-time (2–3 days).

If required, the visually impaired-specific residential support in Basel can be utilized.

This service enables the clarification of suitable aids and compensatory work techniques as well as the concentrated training of an appropriate working method for professional practice. The training and instruction of aids and work techniques is mainly carried out via distance learning.

Professional training (IT and language diplomas)

Completion of IT and foreign language courses suitable for the visually impaired. If possible, these can be completed with recognized diplomas.
