Visually impaired living assistance

Graduates who attend a vocational IV measure at the Swiss Center for the Visually Impaired in the Occupational Environment (SIBU) in Basel and are unable to commute due to their place of residence have the opportunity to take advantage of visually impaired-specific residential support. In a two-room apartment or alone in a one-room apartment, residents are supported and trained in practical life activities and orientation in an unfamiliar environment as required. They are supported by specialist educational staff and have the opportunity to complete rehabilitative training such as orientation and mobility training (O+M) or practical life skills (LPF). Regular leisure activities (including city tours, museum visits, cultural events, sporting activities) in and around the city of Basel are designed to familiarize graduates with their surroundings and promote social interaction.

We also offer internship rooms for people with a visual impairment who are completing an apprenticeship or internship in the Basel area.
